About the Moderator

Christie Rafol is professionally trained as an architectural designer, but more widely speaking considers herself a space maker and space holder. It is with gratitude that she is currently residing, learning, and practicing on the traditional land of the Lenape Peoples (New York City) and she honors their ancestors and the land itself by committing herself to creating spaces that invite diversity and the education of unspoken histories.

After working in the architecture industry for 8+ years at a range of corporate to boutique firms, Christie began to feel drained and disconnected to her relationship with design. She started painting as a way to explore her personal inquiries of various cultural and societal themes. Over time she discovered how intrinsically linked these themes were to her personal journey of healing the misalignments she was experiencing on a soul level and slowly began to find balance in her personal and professional life through therapy, tarot, astrology, tantra, and ancestral work.

Christie is currently pursuing a certificate in Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice in Design from Parsons. She is trained in 2-stage Pranayama Breathwork and is currently studying the art of sound therapy with the intention of offering sessions to members of The Thiiirds community.

She developed The Thiiirds as a space to support, connect and educate creatives on the ways that art and design can be used as a tool for societal and personal healing. Here she encourages members to create from a place of internal alignment with their innate gifts. She hopes it inspires and hopes it makes others feel less alone. She hopes that it leads to a more inclusive, loving, and balanced future for all of us.
